Philanthropy for Education

The Trust’s objective with its philanthropic giving is to facilitate the improvement in educational quality and support initiatives to reduce inequality throughout the Aotearoa New Zealand school system.

The Trust’s philanthropic strategy is to focus on supporting initiatives in education that have the potential to positively impact on large numbers of young New Zealanders.

We believe that if our schools and young people thrive then our society thrives. Furthermore, all young people regardless of where they live or what their circumstances are entitled and should have access to a great education.

The Trust proactively identifies programmes and non-profit organisations that meet its philanthropic objective and is closed to unrequested enquiries or proposals for funding.

The specific areas of current Trust interest include programmes for:- strategic leadership for school principals; teacher recruitment and professional development; initiatives for fostering improvement and innovation in education; mentoring and support for secondary and tertiary students and resources for literacy, enterprise, resilience and online learning. The Trust also has a number of legacy relationships to which it makes grants and is additionally seeking ways and means to utilise the Trust’s unique Art Collection and Archives as learning resources for schools.
