| In November 1992 the Tauranga Club was launched with the help of Frank Thompson (Auckland Retirees Club Chairman). We started with 88 members and a committee was formed from the members present at the inaugural meeting. The guiding executive members elected were:
| Chairman:? | Bill Allen | | Vice Chairman:? | Ian Missen | | Secretary:? | Bill Hulse | | Treasurer:? | Norm Smith |
A motion was moved by Bill Allen and passed by Norm Smith that the Office of the Chairman be for 2 years, the Vice Chairman then being elected for the next 2 years.
Functions were organised right from the outset for everyone. For example two bus loads of the Auckland Retiree Club visited us for a great get together at the Waipuna Tavern. All 88 Tauranga members attended. Our first Christmas dinner was held in the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat club premises at Sulphur Point on December 8th 1992 - not far from Tauranga Harbour Bridge, built by FLETCHERS! A very good attendance by members, their wives and many Fletcher?s Managers. Frank Thompson, wife Eileen and Margaret Wilson were our guests. 10 Auckland Retiree Club members swelled the numbers.

The first 'away' trip was to Hamilton Villigrad Wines via the Cambridge stud home of Sir Tristram. A full bus load of members and friends going and plenty of wine returned. Visits to Wellington Retiree Club and the newly formed ?Friendship Club of Christchurch? in mid October was made by combining Tauranga and Auckland Retiree Clubs.
